I would like to extend a great big thank-you to everyone who exhibited and attended our Spring Show in March. Despite adverse weather conditions in the early part of the year the show was a great success especially with the record number of entries in cookery classes (nothing to do with the weather).

Wendy Andrews won the Eddie Reed Challenge Cup for best exhibit in show. Irene Hobbs won the Daffodil Society’s Bronze Medal and the Trading Section’s Challenge Cup. Maureen Webb-Evans won Mrs Bridget Warrington’s Challenge Cup for the best floral exhibit. All presentations were made by the Deputy Mayor Councillor Barry Cheyne, who then cut a cake to celebrate our 25th spring show.

I am now looking forward with great anticipation to our Late Summer Show which this year is on the 14th August at Hersham Village Hall. I would like to encourage everyone reading this newsletter to enter and come along on the day.

This year there will be a special award for the “funniest/unusual” shaped vegetable or fruit – apt descriptions of your vegetable or fruit will help the judges decide on a winner.

We will be having our regular cake and produce stands again and once again we are looking for donations of cakes and produce for sale. In addition we have Robin Chisholm with his bees and his new Rydens Road Allotment Honey.
